Changing Vintage Story Server Version

The Release Version installer can be used to install different server versions of Vintage Story or update the one you currently have installed.

Find the Startup Parameters

First, you need to access the Game Control Panel and navigate to your server. Once you're there, click Startup Parameters. On the Startup Parameters page, you're able to configure some settings to avoid messing around in the files. We have more information regarding this available in this article. Depending on the version you're looking to install, you may need to change the release branch.

Update the Release Branch (If Necessary)

If the version you want to install is a pre-release or unstable, you'll need to change the [ADVANCED] Release Branch startup parameter to unstable or pre, depending which one is appropriate for your version. If the version is a stable release, you do not need to change the release branch unless it is not currently set to stable, which it is by default.

Update the Release Version

Once you've updated the release branch, find the release version startup parameter under [ADVANCED] Release Version. This is where you can select the version you want the server to use. If the version you want to use is not included in the dropdown, please contact us to have it added.

Reinstall the Server

After selecting the version, you'll need to reinstall the server. This doesn't wipe your files - it simply runs an install script to pull the specified version from Vintage Story. You can do this under Configuration > Server Actions > Reinstall Server. Once the install is complete, start the server and it should have your selected version!
