Common Vintage Story Commands

Commands allow you to customize your server and manage your players.

Giving Yourself Access

If you want to run commands in-game, you will need to make yourself a server admin. You can do this by running /op <username> in the console, replacing <username> with your in-game username. Alternatively, most commands can also be executed directly in the server console.

List of Commands

Below is a common list of commands. For the full list, please refer to the Vintage Story wiki.

  • /help - List all server commands
  • /pm <username> [message] - Send a private message
  • /gamemode (username) <0-4> - Changes player's gamemode between (in this order) guest, survival, creative, or spectator.
  • /tp (username) [coordinates | username] - Teleport yourself or another player to the given position or player.
  • /ban <username> [reason] - Ban a player to prevent them from joining the server.
  • /kick <username> [reason] - Kick a player from the server to disconnect them.
  • /unban <username> - Remove a player from the banlist, allowing them to join again.
  • /op <username> - Grant a user Operator/Admin privileges on the server. Only do this for users you trust, as it will give them access to all commands.
  • /deop <username> - Remove admin/operator rights
  • /time set <lunch | day | night | latenight | morning | latemorning | sunrise | sunset | afternoon | midnight | witchinghour | 0.0-23.9> - Sets the time of day.

  • /time speed <0-999>
  • /spawnpoint <player> - Set a player's spawnpoint
  • /giveitem <item code> [amount] [playername] - Gives items to a player (i.e. /giveitem game:stone 64 YourUserName)
  • /list clients - List online players
  • /autosavenow - Force a world save
  • /stop - Stop the server
